Ukraine name Andriy Shevchenko new head coach

Former AC Milan and Chelsea forward Andriy Shevchenko has been appointed the new head coach of Ukraine.

The 39-year-old steps up from his assistant role to replace the departing Mykhailo Fomenko following a disappointing Euro 2016 campaign, which saw defeats in all three group games, including against Northern Ireland in Lyon.

A statement on the Football Federation of Ukraine website said Shevchenko's appointment was on a two-year deal, with the possibility of extension.

Mauro Tassotti leaves AC Milan to join Andriy Shevchenko in Ukraine

AC Milan have paid tribute to Mauro Tassotti after the coach left the club after 36 years of service to become Andriy Shevchenko's assistant with Ukraine's national team.

Mykhailo Fomenko to 'think' about future as Ukraine coach after Euro exit

Mykhailo Fomenko did not immediately resign as Ukraine coach following their final game at Euro 2016 as he earlier said he would.
