Togo lost to Morocco on Friday at the African Nations Cup.

PORT-GENTIL, Gabon -- Togo coach Claude le Roy is not sure if veteran goalkeeper Kossi Agassa will play in a crucial game at the African Nations Cup after his house in Lome was vandalised by supporters who blamed him for a loss.

Agassa was "emotionally affected" by the news and will be allowed to skip Togo's final group match against Congo in Gabon on Tuesday if he wishes, Le Roy said. Togo's hopes of qualifying for the quarterfinals rest on the game.

Morocco capitalised on a poor goalkeeping performance from Kossi Agassa to beat Togo 3-1 in Group C at the African Nations Cup.

The Lions, who secured their first points of the competition having lost to DR Congo in their opener, were behind early on after Mathieu Dossevi's brilliant opener.

However, they were level after 14 minutes as Agassa failed to collect a routine corner, leaving Aziz Bouhaddouz to head in, before Romain Saiss added a second.

Emmanuel Adebayor: I rejected Lyon move to play in African Nations Cup

Emmanuel Adebayor said he rejected Lyon to play in the African Nations Cup.

Emmanuel Adebayor has told AFP he rejected a move to Lyon in order to be able to play for Togo at the African Nations Cup.

Adebayor, who has been without a club since leaving Crystal Palace at the end of last season, is captaining his country at the tournament in Gabon.

The striker would have missed more than a month of the Ligue 1 season if Togo were to reach the final on Feb. 5 -- and with Lyon unhappy about that prospect, he did not complete the move.

Emmanuel Adebayor has a point to prove as Togo draw with Ivory Coast

ESPN FC's Colin Udoh previews the African Cup of Nations and explains why he supports a 48-team World Cup.

GABON -- Emmanuel Adebayor might only have played a handful of games since last season but he has lost none of his brash confidence and, not for the first time, seems to be revelling in the role of spoiler.

At 32, and without a club since departing Crystal Palace in May, Adebayor understandably huffed and puffed his way through the latter stages of Togo's opening Group C game at the African Nations Cup, but a 0-0 draw with the holders Ivory Coast means the underdogs emerged as the moral victors.

Defending champions Ivory Coast stutter vs. Togo, Emmanuel Adebayor

Wilfried Zaha is now cap-tied after starting for Ivory Coast.
Wilfried Zaha showed flashes of quality but it wouldn't be enough for the Ivory Coast to defeat Togo.

OYEM, Gabon -- Three points from a surprising 0-0 draw for the Ivory Coast as they begin their African Nations Cup defence...

1. Ivory Coast begin title defence with a stutter

All in all, Ivory Coast stuttered on a night that did little to suggest they will have a straightforward run to a second successive Africa Cup of Nations title. Unfancied Togo deserved their goalless draw and increased their own chances of progressing from Group B; this result was hardly a disaster for the Elephants, but...
