Timor-Leste have been banned from the 2023 Asian Cup for falsifying player documents.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have banned Timor-Leste from participating in the 2023 AFC Asian Cup for falsifying documents of their Brazilian-born players.

The AFC issued a statement on Friday, revealing a probe that was conducted in conjunction with FIFA in June last year. They looked into the eligibility of several Timor-Leste players after qualifying matches for the 2019 Asian Cup, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates.

Cambodia survive scare vs. Timor-Leste to book AFF Cup place

Cambodia booked their place at the AFF Suzuki Cup following a 3-2 win over Timor-Leste.

Cambodia qualified for the 2016 AFF Suzuki Cup on Friday night after recording a 3-2 win over Timor-Leste in their final qualifier at the Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh.

The Cambodians will play in Group B in next month's Southeast Asian championship against co-hosts Myanmar, Malaysia and Vietnam. They open their campaign on Nov. 20 against the Malaysians in Yangon.

Unbeaten Cambodia face Timor-Leste, poised to book AFF Cup spot
