Second TPL defeat, but encouraging signs for Gary Stevens at Port FC

An inspired performance by Singapore goalkeeper Hassan Sunny helped TPL side Army United defeat Port FC.

Port FC head coach Gary Stevens believes it is just a matter of time before the Thai Premier League (TPL) strugglers find the results to match their performances, after a 1-0 defeat at his former side Army United that saw another inspired performance by Singapore international goalkeeper Hassan Sunny.

Port FC coach Gary Stevens will face his former club Army United in the Thai Premier League this weekend.

Gary Stevens is relishing his second crack at success in the Thai Premier League (TPL) as he aims to get Port FC moving in the right direction against his former side, Army United, this weekend.

The match could have an extra edge to it as Stevens returns to the club who dismissed him less than two months ago, despite guiding them to their best ever start to a TPL campaign.

This allowed both Muang Thong United and Bangkok Glass to move within a point of the Thunder Castle...

Thailand won easily in Chinese Taipei despite coach Kiatisuk Senamuang's decision to not call up six regulars who were part of the U23 SEA Games squad.

Thailand's 2-0 victory in Chinese Taipei in Tuesday night's AFC World Cup qualifier completed a memorable week for Thai football.

Last week, Thailand's women earned their first ever win in a World Cup finals match by beating Ivory Coast 3-2 in Canada before the War Elephants' U23 side won the football gold medal at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, defeating Myanmar 3-0 in the final.

That was before Kiatisuk 'Zico' Senamuang's men eased to a comfortable road victory in Taipei to make it six points...

Former Tottenham and England defender Gary Stevens has been appointed head coach of Thai Premier League (TPL) strugglers Port FC.

The 53-year-old becomes Port FC's first ever foreign coach just six weeks after being dismissed by another Bangkok side, Army United, despite having led the Gentlemen to their best ever start to a TPL season.

He will be hoping the Port Lions can slay the Dragons of sixth placed Ratchaburi in his coaching debut at home on Sunday as he attempts to turn around his new club's...
