Portugal defeated Italy 1-0 in an international friendly on Tuesday to inflict Antonio Conte's first defeat as Azzurri coach.

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi got off to a winning start with victory over Chad.

Nigeria won 2-0 against Chad in their Group G opener in qualification for the 2017 African Nations Cup.

CAPE TOWN, South Africa -- South Africa's organized and serious crime unit said on Thursday it was conducting a "preliminary" investigation into bribery allegations surrounding the 2010 World Cup bid.

The unit's spokesman, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi, told The Associated Press a file had been opened and the unit would decide whether the information provided by an opposition political party merited a full investigation.
