Singapore captain Hariss Harun has urged his teammates to score early when they face Cambodia in AFC World Cup qualifying at the National Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Lions are third in Group E, with a chance to move to 10 points, with a third win in their fifth second round match. Hariss and fellow midfielder Safuwan Baharudin will return to the fold against the Cambodians, having been suspended from Thursday's unconvincing 1-0 victory over Afghanistan.

Singapore winger Faris Ramli "plays more than Ronaldo" says coach Stange

ESPN FC's Jason Dasey and John Wilkinson review Singapore's narrow 1-0 win over Afghanistan courtesy of a late goal from Khairul Amri.

Singapore stars like Faris Ramli "play more than Cristiano Ronaldo" and need to be given more time to rest during busy international weeks, according to national team coach Bernd Stange.

After Thursday's 1-0 victory over Afghanistan in AFC World Cup qualifying, the Lions will face Cambodia in Group E on Tuesday, also at the National Stadium in Kallang.

Stange gave his players two days off in the wake of the physical contest against the impressive Afghans after they completed a aqua training on Friday...

Australia lose in Amman while Kagawa bails Japan out against Syria

Australia were downed 2-0 by Jordan in Amman on Thursday night.

The halfway stage of the second round of qualification for the 2018 World Cup was all about the big boys from East Asia -- Japan, South Korea, China -- and beyond (Australia) travelling significant distances to face mid-level West Asian teams away from home.

Two won and two lost in an exciting night of Asian football. There was little to smile about in Amman for Australia as the men in green and gold lost in their second successive visit. The Socceroos crashed in Jordan in qualification for the...

Jordan surprise Australia in World Cup qualifying as Japan, South Korea win

ESPN FC's Janusz Michallik questions whether Australia might have been a bit complacent heading into in their AFC World Cup qualifying loss against Jordan.

Jordan scored twice in the second half to upset continental champions Australia 2-0 on Thursday and move to the top of Group B in the second round of Asian qualifying for the World Cup.

The result, in front of a passionate home crowd in Amman, gave Jordan a one point lead over the Socceroos with four games remaining.

Jordan's pace troubled the Asian Cup winners for most of the game and the hosts took the lead two minutes into the second half when Hassan Abdel Fattah blasted a penalty high into...

Baihakki: Afghanistan surprised lucky Singapore in AFC World Cup qualifier

ESPN FC's Jason Dasey and John Wilkinson review Singapore's narrow 1-0 win over Afghanistan courtesy of a late goal from Khairul Amri.

Had Baihakki Khaizan not put his knee in the way deep into injury time, Singapore might have been held to a draw instead beating Afghanistan in their AFC World Cup Group E qualifier on Thursday night.

The Johor Darul Ta'zim II centre-back managed to repel Zubayr Amiri's 93rd minute header on the line and the Lions escaped with a lucky 1-0 win at Singapore's National Stadium.

"I saw Madhu [Mohana] and Izwan [Mahbud] going for the ball," he told ESPN FC.

"Somehow, the Afghanistan player (Amiri) got...
