Mark Schwarzer: Players will die before FIFA switch Qatar 2022 World Cup

AC Milan Director and Vice-President of the European Club Association Umberto Gandini believes a winter World Cup should only be explored as a final solution.

Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer believes it will take "two or three people to drop dead" before FIFA realises Qatar is unsuitable to host the 2022 World Cup.

Earlier this week, the European Club Association proposed the tournament be played in January and February to avoid the sweltering summer temperatures, which often exceed 40 degrees Celsius.

ESPN FC's Gabriele Marcotti discusses Sepp Blatter's decision to have the 2022 World Cup in winter.

The 2022 Winter Olympics may have to move from its traditional January and February dates should the World Cup finals being staged in Qatar face a season change, leading European Clubs Association executive Umberto Gandini told Reuters on Wednesday.

Franz Beckenbauer wants FIFA World Cup bids probe published

German legend Franz Beckenbauer has added his voice to the chorus calling for greater transparency from FIFA.

LONDON -- Franz Beckenbauer called for the corruption report on the 2018 and 2022 World Cup host contests to be published, and said on Tuesday that he took no bribes before voting.
