After being knocked out of the AFC Cup, Home United will turn their attentions to the Singapore Cup when they take on Brunei DPMM in the first leg of their quarterfinal tie at Jalan Besar Stadium on Sunday night.

Malaysia move five FIFA rankings spots above Singapore

Jason Dasey and Dez Corkhill assess Malaysia and Singapore's respective chances in the 2017 edition of the SEA Games.

Malaysia widened their lead over Singapore to five places after the release of the latest FIFA rankings.

Despite both nations losing their most recent Asian Cup qualifiers, Malaysia rose one spot to 166th, as Singapore fell two to a worst-ever 171st.

Singapore's current position is 51 spots below their average of 120th since the FIFA rankings began in 1993.

Their best ranking in the last decade came in 2009 when the Lions were 110th in the world.

Singapore's Home United failed in their bid to become AFC Cup ASEAN champions after a 2-0 defeat to Philippines outfit Ceres-Negros at Panaad Park and Stadium on Wednesday night saw them lose 3-2 on aggregate.
