Norway to give male and female internationals equal pay

Male and female footballers for Norway's national team are set to receive the same amount of pay, players' union boss Joachim Walltin has said.

The move will see the financial remuneration that female internationals are paid almost double, in what Walltin has said might be the first deal of its kind to take place within the sport.

"Norway is a country where equal standing is very important for us, so I think it is good for the country and for the sport," Walltin said.

New York-born Bjorn Johnsen accepts call-up from Norway

Bjorn Johnsen has decided to play for Norway over the United States.

Hearts forward Bjorn Johnsen has accepted a call-up to Norway's national team, thus opting for the birth country of his father instead of his own.

Johnsen is eligible to play for the U.S. because he was born in New York City, but with his U.S. national team options looking next to nil, the 25-year-old will join Lars Lagerback's Norway side ahead of matches against Czech Republic and Sweden.

He will be cap-tied if he appears in the World Cup qualifier against the Czechs on June 10.
