The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have set June 8 as the rescheduled date for the AFC Asian Cup qualifier between North Korea and Malaysia, which was slated to take place on March 28 in Pyongyang but was postponed due to "escalating diplomatic tension" between both governments.

"It is only date available on the FIFA calendar, as we cannot change the match sequence of the fixtures," AFC general secretary Datuk Windsor Paul John told reporters at the Kuala Lumpur based AFC headquarters on Wednesday.

Matthew Davies lauds AFC decision to postpone Malaysia-North Korea game

Jason Dasey and PJ Roberts ask if Malaysia were right to request a neutral venue for their fixture with North Korea.

Matthew Davies welcomed the decision to postpone Malaysia's AFC Asian Cup qualifier against North Korea on March 28 in Pyongyang, following strained diplomatic ties between both governments following the death of Kim Jong-Nam.

"It is the right decision, given the speculation surrounding the game," Matthew told ESPN FC. "The focus may not be on the football and there are bigger issues at play. It'll be good to let it cool off and we can just focus on the Philippines game."
