Malaysia midfielder Brendan Gan opens up about his recovery from knee injury, free agency and his ambition for a comeback.

Malaysia's AFC Asian Cup qualifier against North Korea, twice rescheduled, will finally go ahead in Pyongyang on Oct. 5, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has announced.

The match was originally scheduled for March 28 and then June 8, only to be called off because of security concerns, due to strained diplomatic ties between the nations.

Malaysia players back winless Nelo Vingada for Asian Cup qualification

Malaysia midfielder Brendan Gan opens up about his recovery from knee injury, free agency and his ambition for a comeback.

Nelo Vingada is the right man to lead Malaysia to the 2019 Asian Cup, according to his players who describe the Portuguese coach as someone "comfortable to work with", despite a poor start of three defeats in four games.

Tuesday's 1-1 draw against Hong Kong in the 2019 Asian Cup qualifiers was Vingada's first point of their campaign in Group B, despite playing their opening two matches at home.

The Australian national team is taking "appropriate precautions" after North Korea fired a ballistic missile over Japan's north on Tuesday morning.

The Socceroos are currently in Tokyo, preparing for Thursday's crucial World Cup qualifier against Japan at Saitama Stadium.

In a sign of how impenetrable the team bubble can be for professional footballers, attacker Robbie Kruse was totally unaware of the developments when asked about it.

"To be honest I didn't even know it happened," Kruse told reporters.

Malaysia coach Tan studies North Korea ahead of Asian Cup qualifier

Jason Dasey and Dez Corkhill break down the latest AFC U23 qualifiers for both Singapore and Malaysia.

Malaysia assistant coach Tan Cheng Hoe believes his team will face a difficult challenge when they finally take on 2010 World Cup qualifiers North Korea in their rearranged 2019 AFC Asian Cup qualifying fixture in Pyongyang in October.

The game has been postponed twice due to the diplomatic fall out between the nations following the death of Kim Jong Un's half-brother at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in February, with Malaysian authorities blocking their team from travelling to the nation.
