Watford's Odion Ighalo to see out season despite father's death

Odion Ighalo featured in Watford's 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Odion Ighalo is set to remain with Watford until the end of the season despite his father's death on Monday.

Paul Ighalo died in his sleep in the early hours of Monday in Lagos, Nigeria.

"A few days ago, he complained of weakness. He was taken to hospital for treatment. This morning, he died in his sleep," Nigeria international Ighalo told ESPN FC.

Olympic men's football draw made in Rio ahead of 2016 games in Brazil

Mexico's Olympic gold could be a steppingstone prior to success in Brazil.
Mexico take gold in London four years ago.

Defending Olympic champions Mexico have been drawn against Germany, Fiji and South Korea in the Group C of the men's football tournament this summer.

Mexico, who beat Brazil 2-1 in the 2012 final at Wembley Stadium in London to win their first-ever football gold at the Olympics, won the CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualifying Championship to reach Rio -- along with fellow finalists Honduras.

The draw was made on Thursday at the Maracana stadium in Rio, which hosted the final of the World Cup two years...

Arsenal's Alex Iwobi 'proud' to represent Nigeria after England snub

Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi says the FA made a late push to convince him to play for England but that he is "proud" to represent his native Nigeria.

Iwobi was born in Lagos but grew up in London and joined the Arsenal academy at the age of eight. He made his competitive debut for Nigeria during last month's international break, which ended any chance of him switching allegiances back to England, having represented English youth teams up to under-18 level before being called up to Nigeria's senior...

Arsenal and Nigeria forward Alex Iwobi explains goal celebration

Alex Iwobi's hand gestures have attracted attention.

Arsenal starlet Alex Iwobi says his unorthodox goal celebration was made up on the spot, but has promised to stick with the routine every time he scores.

Iwobi, 19, netted his first goal for the Gunners in last month's 2-0 win over Everton, and followed it up by scoring again in the next game against Watford. In both cases, he produced a series of quick hand gestures after running out toward the sideline to celebrate.

The teenager said it was an unplanned reaction after his goal against Everton.

Nigeria face suspension by FIFA over outside interference

Nigeria fans v Egypt
Nigeria could be suspended by FIFA over a recent court ruling.

ABUJA, Nigeria-- Nigeria face being suspended by FIFA for the third time since 2010 over a court ruling that ordered the removal of the head of the national football federation.

FIFA says it has sent a letter to the Nigerian Football Federation warning that if the ruling is implemented, it would be considered "interference.''

FIFA doesn't allow outside interference in the running of football federations.

FIFA says if NFF president Amaju Pinnick is removed, "the case would be brought to the highest...
