U.S. to face Panama, Martinique, playoff winner in Gold Cup group stage

The United States will face Panama, Martinique and either Haiti or Nicaragua in Group B of the CONCACAF Gold Cup this summer, the confederation announced on Tuesday.

In Group C, Mexico will face El Salvador, Jamaica and Curacao. Honduras, the winner of January's Copa Centroamericana are seeded in Group A and will face Costa Rica, French Guiana and Canada.

NEW YORK -- The former head of the Nicaraguan football federation has pleaded guilty in New York in the corruption scandal that has engulfed the sport's governing body.

Julio Rocha pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy and wire fraud conspiracy on Wednesday in federal court.

The case is part of a sprawling prosecution that triggered turmoil at FIFA, the governing body of international football.

Swiss extradite last of FIFA suspects Julio Rocha to U.S. in bribery case

BERN, Switzerland -- Former FIFA staffer Julio Rocha was extradited to the United States on Wednesday to face racketeering charges in a sprawling bribery case, authorities said.

Rocha is the last of seven men, including two FIFA vice presidents, who were arrested in Zurich last May to be extradited. Six went to the U.S. and one to Uruguay.

Rocha was flown from Zurich to New York, accompanied by U.S. law enforcement officials, Switzerland's justice ministry said.
