New Zealand confirms pay parity between Football Ferns, All Whites

Rebekah Stott & Sarah Gregorius
Sarah Gregorius, right, played a key role in ensuring pay parity between New Zealand's women's and men's footballers.

Leading women's players have hailed a deal with New Zealand Football which adds travel benefits to previous moves toward equality with their male counterparts.

NZF announced on Tuesday a three-year collective agreement with professional players which gives women pay parity, an equal share of prize money and equal payment for image rights for those selected in national teams.

Those elements had previously been in place but the new deal also provides for business class travel on long haul flights...

The curious case of Jeremy Brockie...and Gaston Sirino

Jeremy Brockie's coach Pitso Mosimane jokingly suggests there is witchcraft at play, but the long barren goalscoring run for the Mamelodi Sundowns striker is becoming no laughing matter.

The New Zealand international forward was prolific during his time at SuperSport United, netting 54 times in three seasons at Matsatsantsa, which prompted Sundowns to splash the cash in January and bring in the striker.

However, he has now gone 12 games and over 550 minutes on the pitch without a goal for his new...

New Zealand captain Abby Erceg hits out at NZF in shock retirement

Abby Erceg
Abby Erceg won 129 caps for New Zealand and competed at three World Cups.

New Zealand women's captain Abby Erceg has launched a broadside at New Zealand Football while announcing her retirement from the international game.

Central defender Erceg says the Football Ferns aren't valued, nor adequately supported by the national body, prompting her retirement at the age of 27 as an act of protest.

United States-based Erceg made her New Zealand debut in 2006 and was named skipper in 2014. She has played 129 internationals and competed at three World Cups.

The side's annual...

Ali Riley to become fifth New Zealand centurion against Australia

New Zealand defender Ali Riley
Ali Riley will become the fifth player to reach a 100 caps for the Football Ferns when they take on Australia.

Ali Riley will treat her 100th game for New Zealand no differently from her previous 99, when they face Australia in the first of two women's international friendlies against Australia in Victoria.

The Sweden-based defender will become the fifth player to raise a century for the Football Ferns in Saturday's game at Ballarat, joining Abby Erceg (124), Ria Percival (114), Katie Duncan (113) and Amber Hearn (110).

Riley, 28, doesn't expect to get emotional as she treats every international as a privilege.

Wang Shanshan (9)celebrates scoring China's second goal against New Zealand.

Wang Shanshan scored on a perfectly timed header and China benefited from a questionable called penalty to earn a 2-2 draw in the Women's World Cup against New Zealand on Monday.

With the draw China advances to the knockout stage as the second team from Group A.

New Zealand went up 1-0 on a goal by Rebekah Ashley Stott in the 28th minute but China brought the game level with a penalty kick by Wang Lisi. The penalty came after New Zealand's Betsy Hassett was called for a hand ball in the penalty...
