Malaysia fail to fire once again, held to disappointing draw by Myanmar

Malaysia striker S. Kumaahran
Penang teenager S. Kumaahran came on as a second half substitute in the drab draw in Myanmar.

Malaysia warmed up for June's crucial 2019 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers with a lacklustre 0-0 draw with Myanmar in Yangon on Saturday evening.

Looking to erase bad memories of the same result against tiny Macau in March, the toothless Tigers struggled in the final third against the slick co-hosts of the 2016 AFF Suzuki Cup. The stalemate means that they are still looking for a first goal in 2016 after three games.

For Ong Kim Swee, the real action takes place against Timor Leste on June 2 and 6. But...

Malaysia's Brendan Gan predicts more attacking approach

ESPN FC's Jason Dasey talks with Brendan Gan to discuss his Malaysia targets and preparing for the Asian Cup playoff.

Goal-shy Malaysia are likely to take a more attacking approach in upcoming international games, according to midfielder Brendan Gan.

After Saturday night's friendly away to Myanmar, Datuk Ong Kim Swee's side will face Timor-Leste in a two-legged AFC Asian Cup playoff for the right to advance to the third round of qualifying. The games will be played in Johor Bahru on June 2 and 6.

Gan's entrance to the senior side has coincided with a dry spell in front of goal but the ex-Sydney FC rookie predicts...

Claudio Ranieri the star attraction as Leicester City visit Myanmar

Leicester City players and staff visited a Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar to reflect on their title-winning season.

English champions Leicester City won new fans in Myanmar after making a whirlwind trip to the capital city, Yangon.

Manager Claudio Ranieri was the star attraction as the squad visited the Shwedagon Pagoda, met local monks and mingled with supporters.

The Foxes were accompanied by the club's Thai owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, travelling from Bangkok where they spent much of last week on their post-season celebration tour.

King Power boss Vichai is a devout Buddhist who flew Thai monks to Leicester...

China keep alive their 2018 World Cup hopes, as Australia and Japan cruise

China completed a remarkable transformation in their 2018 World Cup AFC qualifying campaign after a 2-0 victory over Qatar saw them advance to the third round on the road to Russia.

Facing elimination if they failed to win in Xian, China brought the game to life just before the hour. Qatari goalkeeper Amine Lecomte saved from point-blank range but was helpless as the rebound was hit against the underside of the bar and bounced out.

The ball found its way to Huang Bowen, whose shot on the turn...

Singapore coach Stange blames absentees on unconvincing victory

ESPN FC's Jason Dasey and John Wilkinson break down Singapore's victory over Myanmar ahead of their World Cup qualifier at Afghanistan.

Singapore coach Bernd Stange put his team's unconvincing 2-1 victory over Myanmar in a home friendly on Thursday night down to missing key players, especially in defence.

The Lions were outplayed for large parts of the game at Jalan Besar Stadium before substitute Fazrul Nawaz scored the winner four minutes from time.

"We had seven to eight players from our World Cup qualifying campaign not in the line-up tonight," Stange said. "Players like Baihakki [Khaizan], Madhu [Mohana], Faris [Ramli], Shaiful...
