Italy control Finland as Iceland win and Poland draw in friendlies

Italy were fully in control as they beat Finland 2-0 in Verona on Monday in their final warm-up for Euro 2016.

Antonio Candreva won and converted a penalty in the first half, coolly side-footing into the bottom right corner after being tripped by Perparim Hetemaj, who plays club football at the same stadium.

Candreva also set up Italy's second goal, with a cross which substitute Daniele De Rossi headed into the bottom right corner in the 71st minute.

De Rossi had been on the pitch for only seven...

Ukraine beat Albania while Romania and Switzerland also win friendlies

A battle between two European Championship rivals saw Ukraine claim a 3-1 victory over surprise qualifiers Albania in Bergamo, Italy, on Friday.

After conceding an early opener, Albania levelled quickly through Armando Sadiku but gave away another goal at the start of the second half, and Ukraine, also going to Euro 2016, sealed the win with two minutes to go.

The loud Albania fans, who filled half of the stadium in Bergamo, Italy, where their team were training before going to France, were quieted...

Faris Ramli fires Singapore to victory over Myanmar in AYA Bank Cup

Myanmar vs. Singapore
Singapore managed a 1-0 win over Myanmar in Yangon on Friday.

V. Sundramoorthy's reign as Singapore head coach began on a positive note when his side toiled to a 1-0 win over host nation Myanmar in their opening match of the 2016 AYA Bank Cup on Friday evening.

Faris Ramli scored in the 34th minute at the Thuwanna Stadium in Yangon to hand the Lions the victory, setting up a meeting with Vietnam in Monday's final.

However, the result didn't reflect the home side's dominance of possession, with Singapore goalkeeper Hassan Sunny in inspired form to ensure a...

V. Sundramoorthy's Singapore side all set to kick off Suzuki Cup preparations

New Singapore head coach V. Sundramoorthy reacts to his appointment after being an assistant to former coach Bernd Stange.

New Singapore coach V. Sundramoorthy will get his first chance to see his charges in match action later this week when they head to Myanmar to participate in the inaugural AYA Bank Cup.

The 50-year-old, who was last Friday unveiled as the caretaker coach of the Lions on a one-year deal, has spent the last four days working with his players as they build towards the end-of-year ASEAN Football Federation Suzuki Cup, which will be co-hosted by Myanmar and Philippines.

While preparations for Southeast...

Malaysia fail to fire once again, held to disappointing draw by Myanmar

Malaysia striker S. Kumaahran
Penang teenager S. Kumaahran came on as a second half substitute in the drab draw in Myanmar.

Malaysia warmed up for June's crucial 2019 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers with a lacklustre 0-0 draw with Myanmar in Yangon on Saturday evening.

Looking to erase bad memories of the same result against tiny Macau in March, the toothless Tigers struggled in the final third against the slick co-hosts of the 2016 AFF Suzuki Cup. The stalemate means that they are still looking for a first goal in 2016 after three games.

For Ong Kim Swee, the real action takes place against Timor Leste on June 2 and 6. But...
