Cheick Diabate equals 17-year Serie A goalscoring record

Despite Benevento's struggles at the wrong end of the Serie A table, Cheick Diabate equalled an Italian goalscoring record this weekend when he netted twice in the 2-2 draw at Sassuolo.

The Mali international's double took his tally up to six goals in his last three games, having scored two in each of Benevento's last three top-flight clashes.

His outstanding return equals a 17-year Serie A record that's stood since 2001, when Dario Hubner of Piacenza enjoyed a similar purple patch according to...

No Troyes return for Adama Niane despite apology

Adama Niane has not been recalled by Troyes for Saturday's showdown with Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 despite apologising for an altercation with his coach Jean-Louis Garcia.

The Malian attacker was made to serve an internal suspension and excluded from training following an altercation with his Garcia in February.

Niane was accused of "inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour towards the group and the technical team," and was suspended indefinitely.

However, he was given his opportunity to impress on Sunday, with his new club tied 2-2 at home with fellow strugglers Crotone heading into the last 13 minutes.

Benevento had led 2-1 after goals...

Abdoulaye Doucoure, signed from Stade Rennais in February 2016, but immediately sent out on loan to Granada, had looked destined to be yet another anonymous player to come and go at the Hertfordshire outfit without really demonstrating his qualities.

However, when handed his opportunity by new...
