Aliou Dieng, Sekou Diarra help Mali overhaul Tunisia, Guinea beat Zambia

Second-half strikes from Aliou Dieng and Sekou Diarra helped Mali overturn a halftime deficit to beat Tunisia 2-1 in the African Nations Championship quarterfinals on Sunday.

Mohamed Ali Moncer's header had given Tunisia the lead in the 14th minute but Dieng's well-taken penalty 20 minutes from time brought the Malians back into the contest.

Diarra sealed the win in the dying minutes after cutting inside from the left and drilling past Tunisia keeper Rami Jeridi.

Zambia reach ANC quarterfinals with tight win over Uganda

Zambia secured their place in the African Nations Championship quarterfinals with a second straight win in the tournament, 1-0 over Uganda on Saturday.

Christopher Katongo scored the only goal of the game four minutes before half-time to see Zambia through.

In the other Group D game, Mali moved closer to the knockout stage by beating Zimbabwe 1-0.

Mousa Sissoko found the winner eight minutes from time to give Mali four points from two games.

Zambia open African Nations Championship by beating Zimbabwe

Zambia took the early lead in Group D at the African Nations Championship by beating Zimbabwe 1-0 on Tuesday.

Isaac Chansa scored the only goal in the 57th minute for Zambia.

Mali and Uganda shared the spoils in the group's other game, finishing in a 2-2 draw.

Uganda's Joseph Ochaya found the opener on 14 minutes but Sekou Koita answered 10 minutes later for Mali.

A Farouk Miya penalty shortly before half-time again put Uganda ahead, only for Mail to equalise through Hamidou Sinayoko on the hour...
