Francesco Totti will 'choose between Roma or Japan' - Tokyo Verdy boss

Gab Marcotti shares his favourite memory of Francesco Totti and looks back on the Roma legend's career with the club.

Francesco Totti will choose between Tokyo Verdy or a return to Roma, ruling out a move to Major League Soccer, according to the Japanese club's president.

Hideyuki Hanyu, from the J2 club, says the former Italy international is likely to make his "serious" decision in the next few days.

Qatar hand South Korea shock defeat; Japan and China waste leads in draws

With AFC WCQ proving to be a tight and tense affair, Jason Dasey and PJ Roberts look at how the Socceroos can advance.
Japan failed to distance themselves atop Group B as Iraq held the Blue Samurai to a 1-1 draw.

The progress of Japan to the World Cup finals hit a roadblock on Tuesday evening as a second-half goal from Mahdi Kamil earned Iraq a 1-1 draw that leaves Vahid Halilhodzic's side in an ever-tightening battle for an automatic berth at Russia 2018.

Yuya Osako scored eight minutes into the game in Tehran to put the Japanese ahead. But Mahdi's goal for the already-eliminated Iraqis complicates Japan's road to the finals.

TOKYO -- The J-League fined first division side Gamba Osaka $17,500 on Thursday after a group of supporters displayed a banner with a logo resembling a Nazi symbol during a match last month.

The banner, which resembled a symbol derived from the SS of Nazi Germany, was displayed at the team's April 16 match away to crosstown rivals Cerezo Osaka.
