Zambia draw with Namibia to top Group B

Zambia drew 1-1 with Namibia in Casablanca to top Group B and set up an African Nations Championship meeting with Sudan, while the point sets the Brave Warriors up for a date with hosts Morocco in the next round.

In the group's other fixture, already eliminated duo Uganda and Ivory Coast played out a stodgy 0-0 draw in Marrakech, as both sides ended disappointing campaigns on a limp note.

Surprise pacakge Namibia had left it late before striking in both of their first two fixtures, but here they...

Kabaso nets twice as Zambia down Ivory Coast

Augustine Kabaso netted twice as Zambia beat the Ivory Coast 2-0 in Marrakech to take a major step towards the African Nations Championship quarter finals.

Kabaso, one of the stars of the tournament, netted once in each half - both goals coming after sterling work from Ernest Mbewe - as Zambia made it two wins out of two.

Having lost both matches, Ivory Coast now need to beat Uganda in their final match and hope other results go their way to progress, although they will be eliminated if Namibia...

Cisse wants Ivory Coast to draw on spirit of 2016 after CHAN defeat

Ivory Coast goalkeeper Abdoul Karim Cisse believes that the Elephants can turn round their African Nations Championship campaign despite a shock opening defeat by Namibia, having also bounced back from adversity in the 2016 event.

Two years ago, Cisse was part of an Elephants squad that were defeated 1-0 by hosts Rwanda in their tournament opener, but went onto top Group A after consecutive victories over Morocco and Gabon.

They ultimately finished third after beating Cameroon in the quarter finals...

Charles Hambira heads home as Namibia stun Ivory Coast

Namibia began their African Nations Championship campaign with a first competitive victory over the Ivory Coast when Charles Hambira headed home a stoppage-time winner.

Hambira's leap and pinpoint header was the last effort of the game, as the centre-back jumped to meet a Riaan Hanamub free kick to divert the ball past the sprawling Zadi Hortalin Ble in the 92nd minuted.

A draw would have been a fine achievement for a Namibian side competing at the CHAN for the first time, as Ricardo Mannetti's...

Africa's biggest footballing disappointments of 2017

2017 was a memorable year in the African game, with Cameroon ending their considerable wait for a continental crown, and Issa Hayatou's long tenure as CAF chief coming to an end.

Ahmad Ahmad took the reins of the African game's governing body, while the likes of Mohamed Salah, Thomas Partey and Hakim Ziyech have seen their stock climb after fine campaigns.

However, it hasn't been a year of undiluted success and achievement, with many elements of the continent's game flattering to deceive.

In this...
