Nigeria lose to Egypt, fail to qualify for 2017 African Nations Cup

Mohamed Saleh and Egypt have eliminated Stanley Amuzie and Nigeria from next year's African Nations Cup.

Nigeria will not be competing at the 2017 African Nations Cup after losing 1-0 to Egypt on Tuesday.

Ramadan Sobhy took advantage of a missed clearance to put Egypt atop qualifying Group G at Borg El-Arab Stadium, where a longstanding ban on fans attending games in large numbers in Egypt was temporarily lifted.

Nigeria faced a must-win game after Chad withdrew from their group earlier this week. Under CAF's rules, all of Chad's previous results are thrown out, leaving Nigeria with just two points...

And Egypt made them pay late on when Etebo played Salah onside to score in the final moments.

Egypt lead Group G by two points midway through the campaign, with Nigeria's chances starting to dim after they already failed to win at Tanzania...

Manchester City have suffered another injury setback with Yaya Toure pulling out of the Ivory Coast's game with Sudan on Friday.

Ivorian Football Federation officials told the Ivorian Press Agency (AIP) that the 32-year-old had a suffered a recurrence of a heel injury in City's 1-0 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.

Toure picked up the injury in the Capital One Cup final victory over Liverpool on Feb. 28 and it forced him out of the Premier League game against the same side three days later.

Manchester City's Yaya Toure to return for Ivory Coast after call-up

Yaya Toure lifted the African Nations Cup in 2015.

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has been named in Ivory Coast's squad for their upcoming African Nations Cup qualifiers against Sudan.

Toure, 32, has not featured for Ivory Coast since helping the team lift the African Nations Cup in February 2015.

But the former Barcelona player, who has 100 caps to his name, is set to return to the international fold for his country's matches against Sudan this month.
