Ever Banega scored on a deflected shot, Federico Mancuello added a late goal and Argentina beat El Salvador 2-0 in a friendly on Saturday.

Argentina played a lacklustre game without star Lionel Messi, who stayed on the bench with a right foot bruise. 

Banega scored with a 54th-minute shot that deflected off defender Nestor Renderos and beat goalkeeper Derby Carrillo. Mancuello sealed the win with a free kick from a tight angle in the 88th minute.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) have taken the third place in the 2015 AFC Asian Cup after beating Iraq 3-2 in Friday's third place match in Newcastle.

The UAE were defeated 2-0 by host nation Australia in Tuesday's semifinal after 2007 winners went down by an identical margin to two-time winners South Korea on Monday. Australia and South Korea will face each other in Saturday's final in Sydney.
