Champions England dominate ESPN's U-17 World Cup Team of the tournament

England lifted their first U-17 World Cup title, capping off an incredible year of success for their junior teams, with a 5-2 win over Spain in the U-17 World Cup final in Kolkata, India over the weekend. The tournament saw record crowds and a new record for most goals at an U-17 World Cup, with several young players standing out.

KOLKATA, India -- Brazil scored twice in a six-minute span in the second half to beat Germany 2-1 Sunday in the quarterfinals of the Under-17 World Cup in India.

Substitute Weverson levelled the score with a powerful strike in the 71st minute before Paulinho's strong finish in the 77th earned Brazil a semifinal place against England.

Germany looked on top in the first half -- despite a passionate crowd of 66,613 backing Brazil -- and opened the scoring in the 21st minute. Jann-Fiete Arp converted...

Elaborate Spain make it look easy against Iran

Playing at the peak of their passing power Spain demolished an Iranian side that had won every single previous game before Sunday's quarter-final clash.

If there was one fleeting image, one defining moment, to sum up the quarter-final clash between Spain and Iran, it came midway through the first half in Kochi.

With all of Spain's outfield players camped near the Iran box, goalkeeper Alvaro Fernandez took the opportunity to stroll up the pitch and set base at the halfway line, stretching his arms...

It rained goals on a hot Sunday in Kochi as Spain dominated Iran from start to finish to reach the semi-finals of the Under-17 World Cup. Apart from a small scare in the 70th minute when Iran pulled one back after being 3-0 down, Spain were at their aggressive best, dictating most of game with their rivals relying chiefly on counter-attacks. Spain, who have now reached the last four in the last four U-17 tournaments, will now face Mali, the only African team remaining in the tournament,...
