Iceland stars all want to play in Premier League - Gylfi Sigurdsson

Thousands of Iceland fans gather in Reykjavik to welcome home the nation's football team after their historic run at Euro 2016.

Iceland's Euro 2016 heroes all want to play in the Premier League, according to Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson.

The tiny nation shocked the world with their performances in France as they qualified from their group and beat England 2-1 in the round of 16 before being knocked out by France in the quarterfinals.

Iceland's Lars Lagerback now in favour of 24-team European Championship

Iceland manager Lars Lagerback says he is no longer against having 24-teams dispute the European Championship after his side crashed out at the quarterfinal stage of the competition on Sunday.

Iceland, with a population of just 330,000, had never before played at a major tournament, but they were a revelation in France, going unbeaten in the group stage before recording a shock 2-1 win over England to reach the quarterfinals.

However, their hopes of further progress foundered...

France Stadium Security
French police said Sunday's controlled blast was 'nothing to worry about.'

Police carried out a controlled explosion to open the door of a car parked near the Stade de France, about three and a half hours before the stadium was due to host France's quarterfinal match against Iceland.

Police said the car was parked in an area where it shouldn't have been.

Security has been tight throughout Euro 2016 and particularly at the Stade de France, which was targeted by suicide bombers during the attacks across the Paris area on Nov. 13, 2015 that killed 130 people.

Meanwhile, the...
