Adam Federici not to blame for Greece wonder goal - Ange Postecoglou

Greece has scored an unbelievable goal from 60 metres out in their international friendly against the Socceroos. Up 1-nil already, Socceroos keeper Adam Federici was caught off guard by the strike which came from halfway.

Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou has absolved his goalkeeper Adam Federici of any blame for the wonder goal from Greece's Giannis Maniatis which condemned Australia to a shock 2-1 loss in Tuesday night's friendly international at Etihad Stadium.

With Federici stationed well away from his goal, Maniatis chipped him from beyond the halfway line in the 21st minute to give Greece a two-goal lead.

The Socceroos managed to pull one goal back in the second half through Trent Sainsbury, but the visitors...

Spain stunned in loss to Georgia as Greece beat Australia in friendlies

Spain saw their 11-game unbeaten streak end in a 1-0 loss to Georgia in a friendly in Getafe on Tuesday night.

In their final warm-up before Euro 2016, La Roja were undone by a Tornike Okriashvili goal in the 40th minute. Jaba Jigauri's pass across the face of goal got past David De Gea and Okriashvili had the simplest of finishes.

There was a scary moment shortly after half-time when Georgia goalkeeper Nukri Revishvili clashed heads with Spain's Sergio Busquets. Revishvili was bloodied and had to...

MELBOURNE -- Ioannis Maniatis scored a stunning goal from well inside his own half as Greece beat Australia 2-1 in Melbourne.

Maniatis' David Beckham-esque effort was the highlight of a fiery second friendly on Tuesday night at Etihad Stadium.

It was an uncharacteristically poor performance from Ange Postecoglou's men, and worlds away from their impressive display against England 10 days ago and even Saturday's 1-0 win over Greece in the first match of the double header.

The Socceroos started...

Leckie, Kruse and Burns must learn from Tim Cahill's Socceroos' success

For once, Tim Cahill wasn't the hero on home soil as Mathew Leckie grabbed a rare international goal to keep Australia on track in the two-match series against the birth nation of coach Ange Postecoglou.

The last gasp 1-0 victory over Greece on a rain-sodden Sydney pitch means that the Socceroos prepare for the concluding game in Melbourne on Tuesday night with a spring in their step.

It also raised hopes that FC Ingolstadt's Leckie might one day turn into the kind of forward that Australia so desperately...
