Charles Aranguiz tears Achilles tendon ahead of Bayer Leverkusen debut

Charles Aranguiz is set to miss a significant part of the Bundesliga season.

New Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Charles Aranguiz has torn his Achilles tendon and faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Chile coach Jorge Sampaoli rejects Mexico offer, reports say

Chile coach Jorge Sampaoli rejected an offer to coach the Mexico national team but is considering an offer to coach Ligue 1 side Marseille, according to reports.

Sampaoli, va his agent, Greg Taylor, formally rejected the Mexico offer on Tuesday, following a two-hour meeting with Chile Football Federation chief Sergio Jadue, according to Chilean daily El Mercurio.

"The coach has the right to talk to whomever he wishes in his spare time," Jadue told reporters after his meeting with Sampaoli.

Chile Football Federation president Sergio Jadue on Tuesday denied reports out of Mexico that current Chile national team coach Jorge Sampaoli will be taking over at the helm of Mexico's national team.

Jadue dismissed reports that Sampaoli was in conversations with Mexico Football Federation officials to replace dethroned El Tri coach Miguel Herrera. 

"No one has called me from Mexico except reporters, so I can't say much about the subject except to say that there is nothing to it,"
