Arturo Vidal has announced he will retire from Chile duty after the 2018 World Cup but admits the end of his international career may come sooner with his national team in a "terrible" position.

The Bayern Munich midfielder declared his intention to end his international career after Tuesday's 1-0 loss against Bolivia in La Paz that dropped La Roja out of the qualifying places for next year's tournament in Russia with two rounds remaining.

Alexis Sanchez says he is 'tired of being criticised' after Chile loss

Bolivia's famous stadium in La Paz paid dividends once again, as a lone PK saw Bolivia past Chile in the altitude.
Alejandro Moreno and Ross Dyer discuss the winners and losers of the Alexis Sanchez saga.

Alexis Sanchez says he is "tired" of being criticised by the media and that it is affecting him.

The Arsenal forward, at the centre of transfer window speculation this summer with Manchester City among his admirers, received poor reviews after another below-par performance on Tuesday with Chile.

Sanchez, who was one booking away from suspension, started for Chile in the encounter in La Paz and received a yellow card in the 83rd minute of his team's 1-0 defeat at Bolivia. He will therefore miss next...

Arturo Vidal hits out at media and suggests he could quit Chile

Arturo Vidal hit out on social media after facing negative press in Chile this week.

Arturo Vidal has hinted he may considering retiring from Chile's national team, suggesting he has been treated unfairly by the media.

Local newspapers claimed earlier this week that the Bayern Munich midfielder had been involved in an incident at a casino in Chile in which police intervened, but the claims were later denied by both the player and law enforcement officials.

Vidal said the Chilean press was "trying to stain his image" and may have hindered La Roja's preparations for Thursday's surprise...

Paraguay, Chile may join Argentina and Uruguay in bid for 2030 World Cup

While their neighbours from all around South America got to see their national teams in action at the World Cup in Brazil, Paraguay fans were not as lucky.
Paraguay have announced plans to try to join the 2030 World Cup bid from Argentina and Uruguay.

ASUNCION, Paraguay -- Paraguay and Chile have both revealed plans to try to join Argentina and Uruguay in what would be a four-nation bid to host the centenary World Cup in 2030.

Paraguay president Horacio Cartes and the president of South American soccer body CONMEBOL, Alejandro Dominguez, announced the plan on Thursday.

"I'm confirming that we are in agreement -- the presidents of Paraguay, Argentina and Uruguay -- to fight for the right to host the 2030 World Cup," Cartes said on his Twitter...
