Canada chief Victor Montagliani to run for CONCACAF president

Victor Montagliani plans to reform CONCACAF.

TORONTO -- Canadian Soccer Association president Victor Montagliani says he is running for president of CONCACAF, whose past three presidents have been charged with corruption by U.S. prosecutors.

"There's a lot of really good people in the game," Montagliani said on Monday. "But I think it's time for maybe the silent majority to not be silent any more, and I consider myself part of that."

U.S. Soccer confirms friendlies against Iceland and Canada

The ESPN FC crew debate who will win U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year award, with Brad Guzan and Fabian Johnson in the list.

The United States will play home friendlies against Iceland on Jan. 31 and Canada on Feb. 5 as it prepares for World Cup qualifiers against Guatemala in March.

Both games will be at Carson, California, U.S. Soccer confirmed on Tuesday. ESPN FC's Doug McIntyre previously reported the plans for the friendlies last week.
