SEA Games: Singapore duo Qaasimy and Irfan bank on home support

Singapore U23 duo Al-Qaasimy Rahman and Irfan Fandi are hoping that playing on home soil will give them the advantage over their Group A opponents when the football tournament for the 28th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games kicks off next month.

The men's football draw was held on Apr. 15 at the Black Box, Sports Hub where Singapore were drawn into Group A alongside Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia and Philippines.

The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) has announced a 30-man provisional squad that will be participating at the 28th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in June this year.

With the bulk of the team coming from S.League club Courts Young Lions, Balestier Khalsa duo Ho Wai Loon and Nurullah Hussein were surprise inclusions. Joining them will be Home United's Muhaimin Suhaimi and Stanely Ng.

India to play Nepal after first AFC World Cup qualifying draw

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -- The first qualifying matches to be played for the 2018 World Cup in Russia have been drawn in Asia.

India will host Nepal on March 12 in the pick of six preliminary-round, first-leg matches drawn on Tuesday by the Asian Football Confederation.

Sri Lanka will be at home first against Bhutan, who are ranked 209th and last among FIFA member federations.

The return matches will be played on March 17.
