FFA cites Lisa De Vanna for Jess Fishlock clash in W-League semifinal

Matildas co-captain Lisa De Vanna has been cited nine days after charging into Melbourne City's Jess Fishlock off the ball and from behind in Canberra United's W-League semifinal loss.

De Vanna rammed into the Wales international who fell to the turf but the incident was not witnessed by the referee and she was initially expected to escape any action as the W-League does not have a match review panel.

Coach Alen Stajcic has drafted in Matildas old and new as he looks to revitalise the national women's soccer team for their next challenges.

With one eye on the 2020 Olympic Games and another on next month's Algarve Cup, Stajcic has invited 25 footballers for a training camp in Canberra this week. Regulars, including Steph Catley, Lisa De Vanna, Katrina Gorry and Lydia Williams, have been called up alongside five players aged under 19.

Perth Glory women's coach coach Bobby Despotovski is confident his team's bid for sustained success won't be derailed by the club's latest grand final heartbreak.

Glory's hopes of winning their maiden W-League title were brought to a crushing end on Sunday when they suffered a 2-0 loss to Melbourne City in the decider at nib Stadium.

Matildas goalkeeper Lydia Williams says Melbourne City will lead from the back in their W-League grand final against the Perth Glory.

City have gatecrashed Sunday's decider with a win over premiers Canberra United and now face the Glory, led by the season's best player, Sam Kerr.
