Albania's Skenderbeu say UEFA probing alleged match-fixing

TIRANA, Albania -- Albanian league champions KF Skenderbeu say they are being investigated by UEFA for match-fixing.

A statement on Wednesday said UEFA has asked them to go to a hearing after doubts about some results in the national league and European competition.

The club, who won the league title for the sixth straight time this year, say the probe was based on information from betting companies, allegations from fans and the media.

Albania are expected to start work on a new 22,300-seat national stadium in Tirana next month, a boost for the country's national team as they prepare to play in their first major championship.
