Australia international Tomi Juric continues hot streak for FC Luzern

Socceroo Tomi Juric's golden scoring run has continued with a winner on the opening weekend of the Swiss league.

Juric scored the only goal of the game in the 80th minute to give Luzern a winning start to their Swiss Super League campaign, beating Lugano.

Local match reports suggest Juric missed opportunities to open the scoring earlier in the match but made his presence felt with a decisive back post header.

The 26-year-old favourite of national team coach Ange Postecoglou also scored a brace on Thursday in Luzern's Europa League qualifying match with Croatian side Osijek.

It was not enough for the Swiss side to avoid elimination from the competition after a 3-2 two-legged result, but it maintains Juric's fine run.

Including the past three matches of last season's campaign, the No. 9 has netted in five straight games for Luzern.

He also scored three times on national team duty in the interim -- including a double in Australia's all-important World Cup qualifying win over Saudi Arabia.

Juric also found the net at the Confederations Cup in Russia against world champions and eventual winners Germany.

Luzern, managed by ex-Bayern Munich and Liverpool defender Markus Babbel, are next in action on Saturday against eight-time reigning champions Basel.
