Court finds six men guilty in Swedish match-fixing case

Six men have been found guilty of match-fixing after a trial in Sweden.

The men, including three former Kristianstads players, were found guilty after one player admitted having received a bribe.

Two were found guilty of bribing the players to influence the outcome of games played between October 2013 and June 2015.

They were given prison sentences of between 12 and 14 months and ordered to pay fines equal to the amount they had won by betting on a fixed game in October 2013.

The ruling overturned an earlier district court verdict.

It came after one players admitted he received the bribe. Although the other two denied having done so, the court ruled the first player was "credible."

In a statement, court president Lennart Svensaeter said: "His story contains elements which, according to custom, are necessary for a guilty verdict.

"Additionally, his information was supported by other evidence which strengthens the impression of trustworthiness."
