Swansea will subsidise all away tickets in Premier League next season

Swansea City will subsidise prices on all away Premier League tickets in the upcoming season, the club announced on Wednesday.

Some opponents' grounds charge visiting fans more than £50 a ticket, but Swansea's scheme will ensure no supporter pays more than £22.

Swansea say the plan will save fans £300,000 in the 2015-16 season, up from £175,000 last season when they set up deals with 15 individual clubs.

"The club was very proactive on its Away Supporters Initiative (ASI) last season," Swans vice-chairman Leigh Dineen said in a statement. "But we believe our 'True to 22' pledge has taken it to a new level.

"We worked hard on reducing away ticket prices for our supporters last season through reciprocal deals with other clubs. Unfortunately, we were unable to finalise deals with all the clubs for different reasons.

"Therefore, while we introduced other away fan benefits, we felt it would be more beneficial to our supporters if we took the step of guaranteeing them cheaper tickets for all our away games, whether there was a reciprocal deal in place or not."

Swansea cited high travel costs among the reasons to introduce the scheme, claiming that their fans traveled farther than any other club at an average of 217 miles per game.
