South Africa international goalkeeper Ronwen Williams has been handed a new five-year deal by Premier Soccer League side SuperSport United, the longest contract in the club's history.

The 25-year-old has spent the last 12 years at the club and is nearing 200 appearances for the side, having made his debut for the team as a teenager in 2011/12.

"This is the first time we have given a player a straight five-year deal and Ronwen thoroughly deserves it," SuperSport CEO Stan Matthews said.

"He has worked his way through the ranks from the age of 12 putting in many years of hard work in our academy and now in our first team.

"In a day and age where player loyalty is a rare commodity we are delighted to reward Ronwen for his dedication and excellent performances at the club both on and off the field of play."

Williams has won the South African FA Cup on three occasions with SuperSport, most recently this season, as well as the League Cup.

His most recent national team appearance was last month in a friendly defeat to Zambia. He has four caps since making his debut in 2014.
