Kyrgiakos slammed by Magath

Wolfsburg manager Felix Magath has admitted his disappointment at the form of Sotirios Kyrgiakos this season.

Krygiakos, 32, is a Greece international centre-back and arrived at the club in the summer on a free transfer from Liverpool but has failed to impress and was relegated to the reserves in October.

The defender is now widely expected to depart the German club, despite being a regular when he first arrived, but Magath admits he is not concerned at the news.

"I had signed Sotirios Kyrgiakos with great hope," he told Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung.

"He never lived up to expectations simply because he was never ready to fulfil the role of a leader in the group. I had thought that he would be looking forward to do so."

The move is proving to be another disappointment in the defender's career after he also failed to impress during his time at Liverpool where he arrived in 2009 following the departure of Sami Hyypia.
