AC Milan centre-back Mario Yepes will undergo surgery on an ankle injury he picked up against Bologna last weekend and faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Yepes, 35, with withdrawn after 62 minutes of Milan's 2-2 draw with Bologna and tests have revealed serious ankle ligament damage that will require an operation.
The Colombia international will go under the knife in either Italy or Amsterdam and will be out of action for up to ten weeks.
Yepes, who has played 84 times for his country, was signed from Chievo in July 2010 and played 15 games for the Rossoneri last season as back-up to first-choice defensive pairing Alessandro Nesta and Thiago Silva.
The former River Plate and PSG centre-back had recently been enjoying an extended run in the team in the absence of the injured Nesta.
