Al-Sadd coach braced for Barca battle

Al-Sadd coach Jorge Fossati says his players face the "biggest challenge" of their careers when they face Barcelona in the Club World Cup on Thursday but is still dreaming of an upset.

• Vickery: Conquering the world

Qatari club Al-Sadd tackle Champions League holders Barcelona at International Stadium Yokohama in the semi-finals of the Club World Cup having overcome Esperance ST 2-1 on Saturday.

Fossati is braced for a stringent test versus Pep Guardiola's Barca but has not given up hope of claiming a shock result against the Primera Liga giants.

He said: "There's a famous manufacturer that uses the slogan 'impossible is nothing'. I want to believe this now more than ever, even though we're about to face the undisputed best team in the world.

"This match represents the biggest challenge of my players' careers. We need to show humility and keep a strong, positive spirit."

Barcelona's Daniel Alves, meanwhile, is taking nothing for granted versus Al-Sadd, with the Brazil wing-back calling for focus as the club aim to add to their extensive trophy cabinet.

He said: "We've come here with the aim of adding another line to the club's honours list. The fact that Al-Sadd are in the semi-finals of a tournament like this shows the potential of this Qatari side. We all have a lot of respect for one another at this level of competition."
