Cole relishing Trabzonspor showdown

Lille midfielder Joe Cole is confident his side can claim the victory they need to qualify for the Champions League knockout stage when they welcome Trabzonspor to the Stade Metropole on Wednesday.

Nothing but a win will do for the French champions as they look to leapfrog their Turkish opponents to claim second place in Group B and a place in the last 16.

Lille have only won one game in this season's Champions League so far - a 2-0 victory away to CSKA Moscow - but Cole believes he and his team-mates are ready to show that they deserve to be at Europe's top table.

"I think it's a very important game for the club to show its progress by playing in the Champions League," Cole told Telefoot. "I think we were not very lucky at the start of competition.

"People doubted us but we have the opportunity to change course and to qualify, which would be a great achievement for Lille. Everyone wants to ensure that happens and we are very motivated by this challenge."

Inter Milan have already qualified as group winners, with their opponents CSKA Moscow also still able to advance should they beat the Italians and Lille draw with Trabzonspor.
