Beckham still undecided over future

David Beckham says he is no closer to deciding his football future as he prepares for what may be his last match as an L.A. Galaxy player against Melbourne Victory.

Beckham's contract is set to expire in January and the 36-year-old is believed to be weighing up a huge offer to play for French club Paris St Germain, or stay in the United States. But the former England captain says he is unlikely to decide until early in the New Year.

After the Galaxy's win in the Major League Soccer championship, Beckham wants to take some time out to spend with his family before making a decision.

"I wanted to end this season with a championship and we did that, then I wanted some time on this tour to be able to celebrate it," he said. "I haven't actually started thinking about it yet. Once I get some down time, then I'll start thinking what's going to be best. I'm going to spend some time with the family, have a good Christmas."

Beckham and his Galaxy team-mates trained in Melbourne in front of 1000 fans on Monday ahead of Tuesday night's clash with A-League side Victory at Etihad Stadium.

The Victory will be Beckham's fourth A-League opponents after previous LA Galaxy visits included games against Sydney FC, Wellington and Newcastle Jets. And he believes the league's emergence mirrors that of the MLS - a competition which has gone gangbusters in all aspects since Beckham moved Stateside in 2007.

"The game's growing like it is in the US and it's great to see," Beckham said. "People around the world are talking about both leagues now and that's a sign of the growth of the game in both countries."

As for how long Beckham will play, there is no end date in sight.

"My No.1 priority in my life is my family, but my football comes before anything else I do,'' he added. ''It always has and always will. I don't feel 36 years old when I'm out there. I still love training, I still love playing. So I want to continue until I feel differently. I love the game. Until that stops, I want to play as long as I can."
