Ajax claim much-needed victory

Miralem Sulejmani scored twice as Ajax brushed aside NEC Nijmegen 3-0 in a one-sided second half in the Eredivisie at De Goffert Stadion.

The sides were locked at 0-0 at the interval but it was Ajax who were able to up the ante after the restart, Sulejmani leading the way with straightforward goals in the 53rd and 78th minutes. Substitute Davy Klaassen wrapped up the scoring eight minutes from time.

A deflected goal by Jerson Cabral with seven minutes remaining saw Feyenoord claim a narrow 2-1 victory over 10-man RKC Waalwijk as they look to keep up the pressure in the upper reaches of the table.

RKC had taken the lead through Rick ten Voorde in the first half before they were reduced to 10 men when Robert Braber was sent off for a late tackle on Otman Bakkal. The visitors levelled with 14 minutes to go through John Guidetti before Cabral's late intervention ensured all three points for Feyenoord.

Excelsior made the perfect start but were pegged back by ADO Den Haag for a 1-1 result which did neither side many favours.

Leen van Steensel put the Rotterdam club in front in the second minute but the visitors hit back just before the hour mark through Jens Toornstra.

The draw means Excelsior are now unbeaten in three Eredivisie games and lifted them off the bottom of the table, above VVV-Venlo on goal difference. For ADO, they are only three points above the bottom three and have failed to win any of their last four matches.
