Feyenoord brush aside Vitesse Arnhem

Feyenoord ran out convincing 4-0 winners over Vitesse Arnhem to end a run of three games without victory in the Eredivisie.

John Guidetti scored twice for the Rotterdam club with Ron Vlaar and Sekou Cisse also finding the target in a one-sided contest at the Gelredome. FC Utrecht salvaged a point away to ADO Den Haag as Leon de Kogel's 80th-minute penalty ensured it finished 2-2 at the Kyocera Stadion.

The hosts, who came into the match on the back of successive defeats, must have feared the worst when Daan Bovenburg put Jan Wouters' side ahead in the 10th minute.

However, Den Haag battled back as first Charlton Vicento equalised on the half-hour mark and then Lex Immers put them in front 30 minutes later.

A fifth win of the season looked on the cards for ADO until De Kogel's spot-kick for Utrecht, whose 6-4 win over Ajax last time out ended a run of three straight defeats. FC Groningen claimed a comeback win over 10-man VVV-Venlo to leave their opponents still deep in trouble near the foot of the Eredivisie standings.

VVV came into the game with only one win and seven points to their credit - and not a single point from five previous away games - but they gave themselves hope of improving their lot when Yanic Wildschut put them ahead in the 16th minute.

However, the match was turned on its head in the 30th minute when visiting defender Andrea Mei was dismissed for bringing down Dusan Tadic in the area and from the resulting penalty Leandro Bacuna slotted home the equaliser.

The 10 men of VVV could not hold on after that and Groningen striker David Texeira slotted in the winning goal just after half-time to earn his side a sixth win of the campaign. AZ Alkmaar were unable to press home their advantage at the head of the Eredivisie table after their clash at Excelsior was abandoned due to fog. Having seen some of their title rivals pick up points already this weekend, Gertjan Verbeek's men knew that an 11th win of the season would have seen them end the round of fixtures six points clear. However, visibility in Rotterdam became so poor that the game could not continue beyond the half-time break.
