Bond: Redknapp wouldn't quit

Tottenham Hotspur's assistant manager, Kevin Bond, never felt Harry Redknapp would quit football following his recent health scare, with the Spurs boss poised to make his return on Monday.

• Redknapp to face January trial

Redknapp, 64, underwent heart surgery earlier this month and has since been recuperating while Bond oversees matters in his absence.

The former Portsmouth manager will make his return to the dugout for Monday night's Premier League meeting with Aston Villa, and Bond has hailed his ongoing drive.

"I expect Harry to be back on Monday night," Bond said. "I don't know if you can keep the pressure off him. When he comes back to work the pressure of the game will be there.

"He won't be able to avoid it in tight matches. By and large he copes with it well. Hopefully he'll come back in better health than he went away.

"There was no way Harry was going to quit after his heart operation. You have your bad moments in football but I don't think it will have occurred to him walk away.

"A bad moment wouldn't last long with Harry. There is pressure but he's been doing it for a long time and has learnt to live with that pressure. He loves it and would be lost without it."
