Inter Milan defender Walter Samuel has delivered a rallying cry to his team-mates, insisting that the Nerazurri can still be Serie A title contenders despite their lowly position at present.
Samuel, 33, scored in his last outing before the international break to help Claudio Ranieri's side beat Lille 2-1, Inter's third Champions League win in four matches.
But while the 2010 European Cup winners are impressing in Europe, they have endured a terrible start to the domestic campaign and currently sit fourth-bottom in the table having won just two of nine games.
This weekend Inter take on Cagliari, who are without a win themselves since October 2, and Samuel believes his team-mates are ready to get back to winning ways, with a view to mounting a surprise bid for a 19th Scudetto.
"We have to focus on each game because we know that if we play well we can beat any team," Samuel told Inter Milan's TV chanel. "On Saturday we will be playing Cagliari and we will do our best to win the game.
"We must not forget that with two or three consecutive wins we can be right back up there. We will not give up on the league as anything can happen."
