Rooney appeal date brought forward

England striker Wayne Rooney has seen his appeal date against a three-match international ban brought forward 24 hours to December 8.

• UEFA confirms Rooney appeal date

Rooney's hearing will take place at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, and the Manchester United forward will be in the country on December 7 for a Champions League tie against FC Basel. The shift in date will make travel arrangements easier, according to the FA.

UEFA's appeals body will deal with the case the week after the draw for the Euro 2012 tournament.

Rooney, 26, was red-carded for violent conduct in England's last qualifier against Montenegro after kicking out at Montenegro's Miodrag Dzudovic.

The FA is hoping that the three-game ban handed down by UEFA will be reduced to just two, meaning their star striker will be able to play in England's final group game at the European Championships.
