Villas-Boas charged over Foy comments

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has been charged with improper conduct following his comments on referee Chris Foy after the defeat to QPR last month.

• AVB: Ref made tremendous mistakes
• FA charges Blues over player conduct

Chelsea conceded a penalty and were reduced to nine men in the 1-0 defeat at Loftus Road, and afterwards Villa-Boas said Foy had "directly influenced the result" and "committed tremendous mistakes".

The Portuguese also admitted that he had confronted the referee post-match and said the two teams had been treated differently: "I spoke to him at the end and I was very aggressive to him. I don't care if he's okay or not.

"I'm not happy with the difference of treatment. I don't think the same treatment was applied. Apart from the fourth official, the other three were led by the emotions of the crowd and couldn't deal with a game like this.

"Three of the games played by Chelsea were influenced by the referee, and this is not Premier League level. You have to trust human error, but it's a big pattern for us. Things are not going our way.

"Conspiracy theories can lead to bans and lead to you calling us cry babies, and we're not, but it keeps happening."

Chelsea have already accepted a charge of failing to control their players during the game, and were subsequently fined £20,000, but Villas-Boas is now facing the prospect of further punishment.

An FA statement read: "Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has been charged with improper conduct by The FA, following media comments he made about the match official after his side's match at Queens Park Rangers on 23 October 2011.

"Villas-Boas has until 4pm on 15 November 2011 to respond to the charge."
