Marseille midfielder Lucho Gonzalez "wants to play in a better league than Ligue 1" and is the subject of serious interest from Roma and Fiorentina, according to his agent.
Gonzalez, 30, has been plying his trade at the Stade Velodrome for the past two years, having moved from Portuguese giants Porto in 2009, but now appears ready to move on.
The Argentina international was heavily tipped to leave Marseille in the summer but despite reported overtures from Arsenal, a move away from France failed to materialise.
However, Gonzalez's agent Federico Simonian says his client still has itchy feet and is keen to leave l'OM in the January transfer window.
"Lucho and I want the transfer, and I think Marseille do, too," Simonian told Goal.com. "Lucho wants to play in a better league than Ligue 1: Serie A, La Liga and Premier League are examples of those leagues.
"Roma and Fiorentina are two possibilities, we are working on a permanent transfer, but it could also be a loan. In Italy, we work with [agent] Tullio Tinti: next week we will meet with him to talk and I think in the next couple of weeks the situation could be more clear."
