Inzaghi targets Milan return

Veteran AC Milan striker Filippo Inzaghi is hoping to make an impact back in the first team before he retires from the game.

• Milan blog: A heart of goal

Inzaghi, 38, has missed a large part of 2011 after suffering a serious knee injury, but is now fully fit and ready to return to action for the defending Serie A champions, who will be without Antonio Cassano until February at the earliest.

"I've been training with the squad again for two months now. I want to make steps forward and be important for this club again. I think that I still have what it takes to do just that," Inzaghi told Il Corriere dello Sport.

"AC Milan are my top priority and I will never cause any problems for this team. I love the fans over here. I am feeling very well at the moment and it would be a real shame if I could not end my career at this club."

Inzaghi's contract ends at the end of the current campaign, with speculation rife that he will retire if he is not offered a new deal at the San Siro.
