Manchester City coach David Platt has insisted midfielder Owen Hargreaves is edging towards a return to full fitness.
City completed a shock swoop for free agent Hargreaves in the summer, after the England international's contract at rivals Manchester United expired at the end of last season.
Hargreaves, 30, arrived at the Etihad Stadium with an infamous injury record, having managed just 18 league starts for United in four years, but made a promising start to life at City when he scored on his debut in September.
However, after featuring as a substitute in October's 4-1 win over Aston Villa, Hargreaves has since failed to make a third appearance for the club due to a calf problem. But Platt has told the Manchester Evening News: "He has been training for the last week so he will carry on and use the international break to keep that going."
