Utrecht win out against Ajax

FC Utrecht produced a stunning Eredivisie upset by seeing off title hopefuls Ajax 6-4 at Stadion Galgenwaard.

Ajax came into the match having suffered just one defeat all season but went away dazed from the encounter as Utrecht put some much-needed daylight between themselves and the relegation zone with an eye-catching display.

Nana Asare (two), Edouard Duplan, Daan Bovenberg, Jacob Mulenga and Anouar Kali were on target for the hosts - three of those goals coming in just five second-half minutes - while Ajax replied through a Dmitry Bulykin brace and further efforts by Andre Ooijer and Christian Eriksen.

AZ Alkmaar secured their tenth Eredivisie win of the season as they beat ADO Den Haag 3-0 to maintain their position at the top of the table.

Australian forward Brett Holman put the home side ahead in the 12th minute and the victory over ADO Den Haag was assured by second-half strikes from Adam Maher and Jozy Altidore.

FC Twente kept up their impressive form at the sharp end of the standings with a 4-0 victory at home to lowly De Graafschap.

Goals by Peter Wisgerhof, Luuk de Jong, Ola John and Leroy Fer sealed a victory that keeps Twente six points behind leaders AZ Alkmaar. Defeat for De Graafschap was their seventh in 12 games this season and keeps them third-bottom of the standings.

A second-half hat-trick from Jeremain Lens helped PSV Eindhoven to a 4-1 home win over Heracles Almelo.

PSV had trailed at half-time to a 12th-minute Antoine van der Linden header before they hit top gear in a second period dominated by half-time substitute Lens. The Netherlands international set up Ola Toivonen's equaliser four minutes after the re-start before firing his side ahead after 58 minutes.

Lens then made the game safe, and completed a 31-minute hat-trick, with further goals on 63 and 89 minutes. PSV's win ensured they maintained their unbeaten home record and moved level with second-placed FC Twente on 25 points.
