With the much-anticipated clash between previous leaders Juventus and Napoli called off due to bad weather, Udinese took full advantage to go top.

Dusan Basta put the home team in front after only two minutes and Antonio Di Natale added a second for Francesco Guidolin's men in the 65th minute. Francesco Bolzoni pulled a goal back for the visitors 13 minutes from time.

Lazio are level on points with Udinese in second place, having edged out Parma 1-0 thanks to Giuseppe Sculli's 85th-minute goal.

AC Milan also climbed above Juventus with a 4-0 thrashing of Catania, who suffered only their second defeat of the season in resounding fashion.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the seventh minute after Davide Lanzafame fouled Robinho in the box, and it was the Brazilian who doubled the lead in the 24th minute.

Robinho was behind the third goal as well as his shot was deflected into the net by Francesco Lodi for an own goal, and veteran Gianluca Zambrotta then completed the scoring in the 72nd minute.

Inter Milan are outside the relegation zone on goal difference alone after their match at Genoa was also called off because of the heavy rain hitting several parts of Italy.

That allowed Lecce to catch them on eight points with a hard-fought 1-0 away win over Cesena. Juan Cuadrado got the goal in the 56th minute and Lecce then hung on despite having Luis Muriel sent off two minutes later.

Chievo hauled themselves clear of the drop zone with a narrow 1-0 win over Fiorentina, who remain winless on their travels. Luis Rigoni got the goal in the 66th minute as Chievo moved level on points with their opponents.

Atalanta also gave themselves more breathing room from trouble as they edged out Cagliari 1-0 thanks to an 80th-minute strike from German Denis.
