Former Socceroo Madaschi joins Heart
A-League newcomers Melbourne Heart have signed former Socceroos defender Adrian Madaschi to bolster their depleted defence.
Madaschi, 29, who has represented the Socceroos five times, was signed on a 10-week deal as an injury replacement for Kliment Taseski.
Taseski is out for at least three months with a foot injury.
The bottom-placed Heart also expect Adrian Zahra to remain sidelined for some time. Zahra is yet to return after injuring his knee in a horror tackle by ex-Melbourne Victory captain Kevin Muscat late last season.
Heart coach John van 't Schip said with youngsters Aziz Behich and Curtis Good also set to miss A-League games because of international duty, Madaschi would provide valuable cover at the back.
The central defender has spent the past five years playing for Italian club Portosummaga in the second and third divisions.
"We are excited to welcome Adrian to the club for the next two months," van't Schip said.
"He's a player, who has excellent experience at club and international level, and is highly professional in his approach to football, which is something Italian football is famous for."
The Heart are yet to post a win this season, having had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Sydney FC on Saturday night, when the Sky Blues' Nicky Carle scored an equaliser in injury time.
