Inter Milan defender Maicon could be out of action for up to a month after picking up a muscle injury during his side's 2-1 defeat to Juventus on Saturday.
Maicon netted a temporary leveller for the Nerazzurri at the San Siro, before Claudio Marchisio scored Juve's winner five minutes later.
But despite playing the full 90 minutes in the defeat, Inter revealed that Maicon has since been diagnosed with a thigh muscle strain, which is likely to sideline him for between two to four weeks.
Inter have endured a difficult start to the Serie A season, with Maicon one of the few consistent performers in a team that has won just two Serie A games and sits just above the relegation zone.
The Brazil international will now miss Wednesday's Champions League clash against Lille and next weekend's Serie A visit to Genoa, though a speedy recovery could see him return to face Cagliari on November 19.
