Talajic in bullish mood

Boss Dragan Talajic is confident Kuwait SC can overcome a number of setbacks to lift the AFC Cup for the second time in three years when they take on Nasaf in Saturday's final at Karshi Central Stadium.

Midfielders Sami Al Sanea and Jarah Al Ateeqi are suspended for the game against the Uzbek side while the Kuwaitis are also struggling with illness and injuries.

Talajic, though, believes the visitors have enough about them to repeat their success of 2009, when they defeated Al Karamah.

"We have two suspended players, we have some injured players and some sick players who got the flu when we arrived here to cold weather from hot weather in Kuwait,'' the Croat said.

"But for our team it is not a big problem since we have enough quality players to play tomorrow and to win.

"We have prepared for the final with full strength. I hope we will play our best match tomorrow and I hope that the supporters will be happy to watch it.''

Talajic was also unfazed that the final will be played at Nasaf's ground after the winners of the latter's semi-final against Al Wehdat were designated hosts.

"We accept any format of competition and we agreed to play wherever the AFC decided - in Karshi, at a neutral venue or in Kuwait. Anyway, we are here to win the trophy,'' he said.

Nasaf have proved one of the strongest teams in this season's competition, losing just one game during their run to the final.

Boss Anatoliy Demianenko hopes his side continue to stick to the brand of football that has got them this far. "Both teams have their weak points and strong points,'' he said.

"We have analysed the performance of Kuwait SC and we understand how they can play but we need to concentrate on our own performance. If we can manage to do so, we will win.

"Kuwait SC became a stronger team with Talajic's arrival. We have to avoid their counter-attack play. They also have four or five new players who made their team stronger too.''
