Fergie: I had Team GB talks
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed he was in contention to manage the Great Britain Olympics football team next summer.
Great Britain will field a men's team in the Olympics for the first time since the Rome Games of 1960, and Ferguson has suggested he spoke with London 2012 chairman Sebastian Coe about overseeing the side.
However, due to Ferguson's commitments with Premier League champions United, the Scot ruled himself out of contention, with England Under-21 boss Stuart Pearce this week announced as the men's team head coach.
Ferguson said in the Mirror: "I told Seb that if I wasn't managing at the time I might consider it. But I am managing. I'm busy here at Manchester United."
